Seeing yellow or bare patches and suspect grubs? The timing of a nematode treatment depends on soil temperature, moisture, the grub’s stage, the nematode species, and the product being used.

In cooler climates, the treatment window can narrow as autumn progresses. In warmer climates, the timing may be quite different.
Before treating:
Check your soil temperature
Keep the soil moist
Confirm that you’re dealing with grubs
Follow the temperature and application requirements on your nematode product label
For Ontario gardeners
In Ontario, late September can still bring suitable conditions in some years, but conditions vary. Check the soil rather than relying on the calendar alone.
Look closely. Identify. Then decide.
